The first step in any orthodontic treatment, whether you are receiving it for yourself or if your child is receiving it, is a consultation. During your first visit you will:
- Be introduced to our orthodontist and team
- Complete patient forms, including your dental and medical history
If you have had dental X-rays recently, we may ask you to have them sent to our office.
After the initial consultation, we will perform a thorough clinical examination to diagnose any problems with the development or alignment of the teeth, bite and jaw. We will also determine if premature tooth loss, bad oral habits, or unusual swallowing or breathing patterns have had an effect on your bite. Once we have completed this examination, we will be able to determine if orthodontic treatment is needed and when it should begin. We will also discuss your treatment options with you in order to create a plan to achieve the best possible results for your smile.
